Dear Alec

I thought you would like to see the City of Danbury! I go there every day & signal on the hills near. We are to be inspected by Hon. Hobhouse P.G. to-morrow. I am well have just received Mothers letter. Hope the parcel arrived safely. The sweater is for you. Hope you are well. Put P.C. in my album.

1914: 7th October - Colchester - to Cathy

Colchester

Dear Cathy

Thanks so much for letter but I have not yet received the parcel you speak of. Please make enquiries at your end. I had the afternoon off so I have cycled over (20 miles) to Colchester. It is a fairly large place and full of soldiers. Will write on Sunday

Au revoir.
