Dear Dad
Hope to send a letter tonight. Have been sent to Sig. School of Instruction for special course, it is a treat after the perpetual telephone work and it is not in the trenches! I am well and we had a pretty decent time in the  line this time plenty of shells but no casualties and the weather was A.1. Today is a bit unsettled but fine.

Love to All

[M. and B. short for ‘merry and bright’.

Reference to Lloyd George (then Minister for Munitions) may refer to speeches  in parliament in relation to the Military Service Bill 4th May 1916]
