28th Nov 1913
S.S. "Calabria" Genova
Dear Tom
Thanks for the letter to which I will reply later. Glad you find it O.K. on the whole. Had beautiful weather and fine time in this, the cleanest and liveliest city of all. Leave for Livomo tonight, where we expect great doings, I shall not be home for months yet. Good luck and buon fortuna

Dear Catherine
Thanks for letter, glad you received and like the gloves. Had moderate Atlantic passage, but perfect weather from Cape St. Vincent and feel very well. Sorry to say I shan't be home for Xmas, nor for several months yet. Will send a letter later and hoping you are alright.
Your affec. brother
