Little Baddow
Friday
Dear Mother
We returned here on Wednesday and received
your letter and your P.C yesterday. I will write to A. Kate, have just sent a
line to A. Jane at Bedford. We have been for a long 12 or 14 mile route march
today. I am very well and fit and quite a soldier now but buy some meals out as
camp grub is too much. Am writing as usual.
Love Tom

Dear Charly
I am still here and I have no idea whether you are home. PC home to forward. I am very fit and this week have been made a signaller. I like it and the work is much easier than Battalion drills. I know almost as much as the others and will go in for exam in May for badges We work hard and the discipline is greatest but I like it and hope to go abroad soon. Will write later. Hoping to hear from you

15th Sept 1914
Tuesday 5.30
Dear Alec
I thought you might like a card showing you
the place we live at. It is not half so pretty as the photo, but is a little
livelier than Little Baddow. We are now waiting for orders to return there. I
expect to go Wednesday morning. I hope you are well.
Best Love to all
Tom
