Thank you all very much for the letters, parcel and good wishes. All reached here safe and on the 24th so it was in time. I’ll leave my letter a day or so but have plenty of home news to answer so you can expect a big budgett!

It is just 3 a.m.!

No doubt all you people are sound asleep I’m not! Have four hours to do, then breakfast and some sleep. All well here and weather much colder. My phone is making a most awful row as all stations are calling up will write in a day or two, hope all are well.

I am sending this p.c. in the hope of it reaching you before you send off parcel. If not already in, please enclose shaving soap, 2 Swan matches, 3 pencils and a couple of candles. Thanks for your letter and I’ll repay you as soon as possible. Have been to footer since dinner and went to concert last night so you see I am still Merry and Bright!

Another little view of the war area with French Soldiers occupying a big chateau as a fort. I have not had a letter from home for a very long time. Mother wrote from Leicester and I sent letter home. Hope all are well
