Just a line to let you all know I’m still Merry and Bright, well and safe. We returned from trenches yesterday after a pretty fair time and plenty of shelling but no damage. Will write again when I hear from Mother. Hope you are well, do you go to school yet?

Dear Father

Thanks for p.c. of 28^th Dec. I am still anxiously awaiting the letters. Have had a very poor post lately, will write from the trenches which we go to on Monday. Have had a jolly week in spite of weather and have a few little bits of news. Glad you liked the last and that house is so snug and nice. You seem to have spent a quiet Xmas. Hope all are well
